How Bestpreisradar works: sources, prices and tests

Bestpreisradar publishes buying guides for products from the kitchen, household and TV advertising categories. We separate manufacturer information, our own editorial considerations and test results we gathered ourselves.

Buying advice is not a test of our own

Manufacturer instructions only prove details about the specific model. Without our own testing we don't award test scores and don't claim a measured time saving, cleaning performance or durability. A hands-on test of our own is only published once a named tester, a documented purchase, our own photos and traceable checks are in place. Automatically created legacy articles are being reviewed editorially step by step; the six revised buying guides name their sources directly.

Comparing several public tests

Our test evaluations compare published original tests. We state the source, model, test date or known text status, and the retrieval date. Shared findings, conflicting results and our recommendation derived from them remain distinguishable. Different test scores are not averaged. An evaluation of this kind is not a hands-on test of our own and does not claim to be exhaustive.

Amazon rankings as evidence of demand

For the category comparisons from October 2026 onwards, we state, for each model, its Amazon bestseller rank in the relevant subcategory, the "Bestseller" and "Amazon's Choice" labels, and the "bought in the past month" figure. These values come from the DataForSEO Merchant API (amazon.de, Germany location) with a retrieval time; sponsored results never count. A rank is evidence of demand at the time of retrieval, not a quality judgement, and is not compared across subcategories. We take model facts only from the offer title or from manufacturer pages we have read with a date; anything still open is stated for each model under "Status check". Search volume blocks come from the DataForSEO Keywords Data API (Google Ads, Germany and Austria) and are monthly estimates, not visitor figures.

Prices need a source timestamp

A current price is only shown with a clearly matched ASIN, a positive price, a traceable origin and a source timestamp within the last 24 hours. The modification date of a file or a page rebuild does not prove a new price observation. If evidence is missing, the link leads to the price check at the provider.

Why previous price series are not enough

The previous routine re-dated cached prices on page rebuild. This legacy data is no longer presented as daily measurements, price drops or savings potential. A mere page rebuild does not record further data points. As long as no verified series are available, no price judgement derived from it appears.

When a price classification is possible

Classification requires a verified current price and at least three different documented observation days for the same ASIN within the previous 30 days. The comparison basis is the median of these days. A difference of at least five percent is classified as above or below. This is neither a complete market observation nor a forecast. Other retailers, delivery and product quality are not assessed by this.

Alternatives and retailer offers

An alternative must perform the same task. Different models are not compared as the price history of the same product. Retailer offers on a specific product page need a matching ASIN or GTIN. A shared brand is not enough. Category offers may cover different items; a discount against an RRP is not proven market price advantage.

Financing and responsibility

We earn a commission on qualifying purchases via Amazon model searches and also fund ourselves through advertising. Ad links are marked accordingly. A commission is not proof of quality. Price, availability and scope of delivery in the shop are decisive.
