YOUR CHOICE IN THREE BUDGET TIERS

High-end, mid-range or budget?

A projector is a later comfort upgrade. Screen, blackout, sound and mounting are all part of the overall budget.

Our recommendations by features and use case, not a complete market test. The tiers apply within the category; daily deals can change the price order. Source check: 15.10.2026.

High-end

BenQ W2720i

BenQ W2720i
BenQ W2720i · Image: BenQ. Check scope of delivery in the offer.

Why this choice? Our high-end choice for a deliberately planned home cinema with 4K UHD projection and an LED light source.

Before buying: Setup and blackout remain decisive. The projector alone doesn't make a complete home cinema.

Mid-range

Epson EH-TW7100

Why this choice? Our mid-range choice if flexible placement matters more than a particularly compact build.

Before buying: Lamp technology: factor in follow-up costs and ventilation clearance; check distance with the calculator.

Our recommendation by use case

For shorter projection distances

Light source
4LED
Brightness according to manufacturer
2,500 ANSI lumens
Throw ratio
1,0–1,3 : 1

Our assessment: The 1.0–1.3 throw ratio allows a large picture at a shorter distance. The LED light source and placement are the main buying arguments.

The trade-off: Only ±5% vertical lens shift. Check the mounting height; digital keystone correction is no substitute for proper placement.

UHE lamp
Brightness according to manufacturer
3,000 lumens white and colour brightness
Throw ratio
1,32–2,15 : 1

Our assessment: Horizontal and vertical lens shift help when the optical axis isn't exactly centred. For this, the larger projection distance needs to fit the room.

The trade-off: The lamp is a later cost item. Screen, blackout, mount and sound belong in the budget too.

WILL THE HOME CINEMA FIT YOUR ROOM?

Throw distance instead of guesswork

Enter the desired 16:9 image diagonal and the available distance from lens to screen.

At 100 inches: BenQ roughly 2.21–2.88 m; Epson roughly 2.92–4.76 m lens distance.

Calculated from 16:9 image width × throw ratio. Rounding differences from manufacturer tables are possible. The result only checks the horizontal projection geometry, not brightness, mounting height, lens shift or ventilation clearance.

Before ordering: check three things

  1. Measure from the lens to the image surface, not from wall to wall.
  2. Check projector height and permitted lens shift in the installation plan; maximum shifts aren't always usable at the same time.
  3. Calculate the overall package of screen, blackout, sound, mount and cabling.

How this comparison is made

Editorial: Bestpreisradar · Data check on 12.10.2026. We compare the models named using linked manufacturer and offer data, Amazon rankings from the DataForSEO Merchant API, and explicitly marked original tests. The recommendations are our assessment of this information; we do not carry out our own lab tests. The selection does not cover the entire market.

Manufacturer data proves features, not automatically quality. Missing measurements are not replaced by stars or overall scores. Prices and availability are shown in the respective shop; a model search may include differing variants. The order is not a quality ranking.
